"Recent" Drops I Can't Stop Thinking About
Full Disclosure: some of these date back to a few months ago. This will soon be a bi-monthly series discussing some of my favorite drops and collaborations from a range of clothing brands.
The holidays have come and gone. Historically, January tends to be a lull period for the retail industry. So much time, effort, and marketing dollars have gone into convincing consumers to buy their products that brands are now focused on learning from any post-mortem insights they’ve gathered. Their eyes are now looking ahead to ramping up for some big events over the next several months (think fashion weeks in global hubs and their spring/summer capsule launches.) But the best brands know that real innovation never stops and there’s always opportunity for awareness and customer acquisition year-round. Here are five “recent” drops and announcements from the last several weeks that have been living rent-free in my head:
1. Timbaland’s “Bottega” Boots

My only regret so far in 2025 was that I didn’t come across these when they hit the internet and buying them immediately. Like many people I’ve owned several pairs of Timbs throughout the years, but I’ve never really been a boot guy….until now. After Bottega Veneta launched their version of Timberlands last year, the Timberland design team quickly hit us with a “hold my beer.” These boots take the popularized woven leather pattern that has had the fashion community buzzing and put their own spin on it. I’ll be searching far and wide to add these to my own closet, but emotionally prepared that my chance may have come and gone.
2. KITH’s Chinese New Year Capsule

Kith is one of my favorite brands and can usually do no wrong in my eyes. They do a weekly drop called Kith Monday and I’d go as far as saying there are at minimum 2-3 pieces I think about adding to my collection with each release. Similar to Aime Leon Dore, they’re known for thoughtful partnerships and how they work them into their brand narrative is so seamless. Kith Treats (their retail coffee shop) including ube-based drinks and desserts to top it all off? Chef’s Kiss.
3. Adidas Knitwear
Another brand hopping on the Chinese New Year wave this season is Adidas, and whew they brought the HEAT. (Side note - brands have been celebrating this occasion for years so this isn’t a new fad). Big shoutout to
for putting everyone on because they were one of the few accounts who found out about this release and spread the word. Unfortunately for my US-based readers, this drop is exclusive to China, but there is a small chance it gets to the states eventually. Traditionally I haven’t been too interested in Adidas’ athleisure/casual clothing, but they have absolutely changed my mind.4. Dreams of Triumph’s Letterman Jacket

Some of you might have already seen the trend that letterman jackets are making a huge comeback. As a sports fan and former athlete,I’m definitely not mad at this at all. Dreams of Triumph is a black-owned brand based in DC that promotes positivity in everything they do. The craftsmanship on this jacket - from the patchwork to the satin lining - is pretty insane. This is a limited drop as only 50 jackets were made, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t on the checkout page as I type this.
5. The Ode to Car Companies

Aime Leon Dore partnered with Porsche. Kith partnered with BMW. Picante partnered with Bentley. And this is just scratching the surface. You might be tempted to say “this just feels like car merch,” but the brands are thinking much deeper than that. I think we’re seeing this evolution because two very popular things have been happening as of late. One: people are becoming huge fans of F1 racing. Companies are pumping millions of dollars into being name sponsors for cars and their respective drivers (DropBox became a McLaren sponsor last year). And two: there is a lot of discourse around the nostalgia when companies in every industry took pride in the craftsmanship of their products. These items are the marriage of the two, and its been extremely well received because all of these sold out incredibly fast.
